Equestrian Performance Breathwork The Gap Between the Gap™

Equestrian Performance Breathwork The Gap Between the Gap™

Equestrian Performance Breathwork The Gap Between the Gap™

Nervous-system regulation for riders seeking steadier performance, recovery, and horse-human communication.

Is your horse reading signals your body didn’t consciously send?

This work supports riders in becoming more conscious of the internal state they bring into the barn, the tack-up process, the saddle, the ride, and the recovery window afterward.

Through trauma-informed somatic breathwork, nervous-system awareness, and embodied recovery practices, riders learn simple tools they can return to before, during, and after the ride — and between rides, recovery sessions, and moments of pressure.

This is not about forcing calm or fixing the body.

It is about creating conditions where breath can lead, the nervous system can settle, and the body can begin to reorganize from within — drawing on the body’s natural capacity for regulation, adaptation, and integration.

CHOOSE YOUR ENTRY POINT

single session reset — 60 minutes
A focused private session for riders who want to experience rider–horse coherence, nervous-system regulation, and a practical reset they can return to as needed.

private container — 3 / 6 / 12 months
Season-level support for riders who want structure, continuity, and deeper integration across training, showing, recovery, and life outside the saddle.

not sure yet?
Start with the single session reset. After your first session, we can discuss whether ongoing support makes sense for your season, your horse, and your goals.

INSIDE A PRIVATE SESSION

Each session begins with what is most present in your body, your riding life, and your partnership with your horse.

We may explore how your nervous system responds to pressure, past falls, show nerves, recovery, transitions, or specific moments in the ride where your body tightens, braces, rushes, or disconnects.

From there, we use breathwork, somatic awareness, and simple regulation practices to help the body settle, reorganize, and communicate with more clarity.

The goal is not to override your system.

The goal is to help you notice what your body is already communicating — and give you practical tools to return to steadiness when it matters.

WHAT THIS SESSION SUPPORTS

In this session, you may learn to:

• notice the internal signals your horse may already be responding to
• regulate your nervous system before, during, and after the ride
• build a repeatable breath and regulation reset for the barn, warm-up ring, in-gate, or home
• reduce bracing, rushed timing, or tension patterns that appear under pressure
• support recovery after a difficult ride, fall, injury, or high-stakes experience
• bring more steadiness into your seat, hands, breath, and attention
• strengthen communication through clearer timing, softer contact, and more consistent presence.

HOW WE WORK

Each session is shaped around your real riding life.

Together, we may:

• map how your body responds to pressure using specific moments from rides, shows, or past falls
• identify where breath, tension, attention, or timing begin to shift
• practice simple regulation tools that meet your system where it is, without forcing
• use familiar riding situations — the barn aisle, tack-up process, warm-up ring, in-gate, spooky corner, tight line, or difficult transition — as practical reference points
• translate internal shifts into clearer signals your horse can feel through breath, seat, hands, timing, and contact
• close with a simple reset you can repeat on your own before a ride, between classes, after a ride, or at home.

HOW THIS WORK CAN SUPPORT A SEASON

Some riders use a single session as a focused reset.

Others return as needed before key shows, after a difficult ride, during recovery, or when something new surfaces in the partnership.

For riders who want more structure, ongoing support can become a season-level container.

3-month reset
Recalibrate your nervous system, rebuild confidence, and establish a steadier baseline your horse can recognize.

6-month season companion
Ongoing support through a competition season, woven into training, showing, recovery, and the pressures that arise along the way.

12-month integration
Longer-term support for riders who want nervous-system regulation, performance recovery, and rider–horse communication to become part of their full riding life.

After your first session, we decide what rhythm fits your season, your horse, and your goals.

PATHWAYS YOUR PLAN MAY DRAW FROM

Your plan may include focused pathways such as:

• rebuilding your seat after trauma
• equestrian breathwork for barn or team groups
• strength, rhythm, and reset
• breathwork for thresholds of change

These are not separate boxes. They are pathways that can be integrated depending on what your body, your riding, and your season are asking for.

THE GAP BETWEEN THE GAP™ METHOD

The Gap Between the Gap™ is the physiological pause where the rider begins to notice what the body is carrying before it becomes pressure, bracing, or rushed communication.

In this work, breath becomes a practical entry point into nervous-system regulation.

As the rider becomes more aware of breath, muscle tone, attention, timing, and tension, the body can begin to communicate with more clarity.

The horse has less tension to interpret.

Over time, this can support steadier performance, clearer contact, more responsive timing, and a more organized exchange between horse and rider.

SESSION SETTING

Private breathwork and nervous-system regulation sessions may be offered in a quiet indoor space, barn-side, or, when appropriate, with the rider mounted.

All work is directed toward the rider.

This work is supportive, educational, and complementary to existing training, medical care, mental health care, bodywork, chiropractic care, recovery technologies, and veterinary care.
